My neighbour got a pre-declined credit card in the mail. Wives are having sex with their husbands because they can’t afford batteries. CEO’s are now playing miniature golf. Exxon-Mobil laid off 25 Congressmen. A stripper was killed when her audience showered her with rolls of pennies while she danced. I saw a Mormon with only one wife. If the bank returns your check marked “Insufficient Funds,” you call them and ask if they meant you or them. Angelina Jolie adopted a child from America. Parents in Beverly Hills fired their nannies and learnt their children’s’ names. My cousin had an exorcism but couldn’t afford to pay for it, and they re-possessed her! A truckload of Americans was caught sneaking into Mexico. A picture is now only worth 200 words. When Bill and Hillary travel together, they now have to share a room. The Treasure Island Casino in Las Vegas is now managed by Somali pirates. And, finally…. …………………………………………………………………………………………………………. I was so depressed last night thinking about the economy, wars, jobs, my savings, Social Security, retirement funds, etc., I called the I got a call-centre in Pakistan, and when I told them I was suicidal, they got all excited, and asked if I could drive a truck.

My View Of The World and all it’s bits…American Football
Posted: January 17, 2011 Filed under: Opinions on... | Tags: American Football, English lady's take on American Footbal, NFL, sports Leave a comment »Thoughts on the NFL (American Football.)
Coming from USA/UK duel heritage my thoughts on this time-consuming start/stop sport is that it is not a ‘foot to ball’ sport and should be re-named appropriately to ‘Hand Ball’, ‘Hand Shove Ball’ or even “I’ll get my hands on that ball and take you down’ – game?
They say it’s just a game but for many Americans it seems to be a way of life that varies depending on the sport of the season. The excitement of previous months crescendos as the National Football League frequent all medias. To me, big men in tights wearing ass pads and trying to play rugby. To them, it’s a time to gamble, drink and get excited. A testament to manhood.
I watch with a mix of curiosity and admiration for the highly enthused sports fans. Every time a player gets a ball behind the line their little faces light up like pinball machines, vacantly held to the screen. It could be quite possible to submerge yourself in the contra cultures of each sport. Follow the stories and lives of sport celebrities, watch tv stations dedicated to sports that cover 24/7 of scores, scandals and the victories. I would say that America in particular caters to the promotion of ’Happy Distractions’ and Sports makes up for a large part of it.
(Side Note: It would seem that such ‘games’ are no more than an extension of the male ego personified. All focus on BALLS and Ball games. I know plenty of men and women who just can’t take their eye off the literal balls to see the proverbial ( balls.)
Like horses with blinkers harnessed to the TV with a hotdog in hand. They watch, cheer, weep, live by it - surely the ‘team projection’ reflects tribal qualities and offers an escape to the daily routine whereby youths and old bearded men alike can sit side by side and rejoice in a happy death, as long as you don’t stand in front of the television.
Make Up
Posted: August 27, 2010 Filed under: Opinions on... | Tags: cosmetics, women 3 Comments »As a woman born from generations of other women who have inspired me to dress smart and always put on my ‘face’ before I leave the house. I came to wonder of the nature of women and have been drawn to reflect on the symbolism of this facade.
Think of all the women on the planet who are fortunate enough to buy cosmetics and clothes and stand before the mirror fixing their hair, drawing precise lines across their eyes so that they may appear more open, attractive. To attract the attention of another man? I think it to be more of a meditation. A pre-life space where I can think about my day, my relationships, the dynamics of life and while doing so smooth foundation across my face so that others may not see my worry lines. Hide my pimples, my cold sores, all the signs of a troubled mind reflecting onto the body. To spray perfume so that a pleasant fragrance folds itself to you. As though that by doing this you are shrouding yourself with the dignity and composure of what it means to be a woman.
To be strong but gentle. Uncompromising but compassionate. To see a naked face would also reveal the challenge, a challenge that by nature we must face. So we perfect our face, our hair, our body and style so that if our world is weary, we may bring a fresh shade to our day and a hidden confidence to our spirit.
To all the women who can relate as they stand before the mirror perfecting their grace.
